Frequently Asked Questions What does a Bolognese-type telescopic rod mean? A Bolognese rod is a long float rod equipped with guides and a reel seat. It allows you to use a reel, make longer casts than with a fixed rod, and control the float rig in river currents or farther from the shore. Does 40–100 g refer to fish weight? No. This indicates the approximate casting weight suitable for the rod, not the maximum weight of the fish you can catch. The casting weight includes the float, sinkers, bait, and other rig components. Is the rod suitable for use in saltwater? Yes. Fuji Alconite guides and K-Concept frames are suitable for coastal fishing. After using in saltwater, rinse the rod, guides, and reel seat with fresh water and let them dry before collapsing the rod. Which reel should I choose for this rod? A balanced spinning reel with a size and line capacity suitable for your rig is recommended. A reel that is too heavy will cause fatigue when holding a five-meter rod, while a reel that is too small may limit casting distance and line capacity. When is the Okuma Competition Avenger Bolo 5 m the right choice? The five-meter model is ideal for anglers who need better control when fishing farther from the shore or from a higher spot, but also value reasonable weight and transport length. The 40–100 g casting weight allows for heavier floats and rigs compared to a standard Bolognese rod. The six- or seven-meter model offers greater reach and better line control when fishing from very far or high banks, but is heavier and more cumbersome in windy conditions. For light float rigs and smaller fish, a rod with a lower casting weight may be more sensitive and comfortable. Recommendations Equip the rod with the lightest reel possible that balances the five-meter blank and does not cause excessive wrist fatigue during a long fishing day. Always check the total rig weight before casting: the 40–100 g test covers the float, weights, bait, and all other cast components. When opening the telescopic rod, lock the sections straight and align all guides before tightening the rig. When collapsing, release the sections in a controlled motion starting from the thickest part. Avoid twisting the guides sideways and do not use tools to release the rod. When landing fish, do not lift heavy catches out of the water using only the rod's strength. Hold the rod at a moderate angle and use a suitably sized landing net. After sea fishing, rinse the guides and reel seat with fresh water and allow the rod to dry completely before putting it in the transport position. Powerful and lightweight five-meter float rod The Okuma Competition Avenger Bolo 5.00 m combines a 312 g weight, 40–100 g casting test, and high-quality Fuji components. It is a practical telescopic rod for anglers who want excellent float rig control, long reach, and enough power for demanding fresh- or saltwater fishing.
