Storm Biscay Deep Shad 17 cm / 131 g is a soft lure with a heavier jig head, realistic swimming action, and a weedless hook solution, designed for coastal and sea fishing. The BIW or Sardine color imitates a natural baitfish, the jointed body creates a strong rolling action, and the 107-gram jig head allows the lure to be used in deep water, currents, and windy conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the total weight of the Storm Biscay Deep Shad 107 or 131 grams?

The total weight of the rigged lure is 131 g. Of this, 107 g is the jig head and approximately 24 g is the soft body.

What does weedless hook solution mean?

The hook point is located inside or close to the surface of the soft body, reducing the chance of snagging on vegetation and obstacles. When a fish strikes, the soft body collapses and the hook gap opens for hooking.

How many lures are in the package?

The package includes one lure rigged on a jig head and one spare unrigged body. There are not two separate jig heads in the set.

Is the Storm Biscay Deep Shad 17 cm suitable for freshwater fishing?

Yes, the lure can also be used for catching big pike in deeper waters. However, keep in mind the total weight of 131 g, so a strong rod with a suitable casting weight, an appropriate reel, and a durable braid are required.

When is the Storm Biscay Deep Shad 17 cm / 131 g the right choice?

This configuration is best suited for deep water, strong currents, and windy coastal conditions where a lighter lure won't reach the desired fishing depth quickly enough. The high weight allows for better contact with the lure, and the 17 cm body offers a highly visible silhouette for larger predators.

The 131 g model is impractically heavy for shallow water, weak current, or light tackle fishing. In such conditions, choose a Biscay Shad with a lighter jig head. If the fishing spot has a lot of sharp rocks, shells, or dense vegetation, the weedless design helps reduce snagging but does not make the lure completely snag-proof.

We recommend

Use the Storm Biscay Deep Shad only with a rod rated for at least 131 grams casting weight. A rod with too low a casting test may be damaged during casting. Also check the strength of your line, leader, knots, and clip, as the heavy lure puts a lot of strain on connections during casts and fish runs.

After casting, let the lure reach the desired depth and start a steady retrieve. The lure creates a rolling action even at a calm pace, but when searching for active fish, you can use faster retrieves, short accelerations, and pauses. Maintain contact with the line during the sink to detect bites and prevent uncontrolled sinking to the bottom.

After use in saltwater, rinse the jig head, hook, and connections with fresh water and dry them thoroughly. Check the attachment of the soft body and the sharpness of the VMC hook after each fishing trip. A damaged body can be replaced with the spare body included in the set.

A heavy and realistic soft lure for sea fishing

Storm Biscay Deep Shad 17 cm / 131 g combines high casting weight, a strong VMC 6/0 hook, and a realistically rolling soft body. The BIW Sardine color, weedless rig, and included spare body make it a practical choice for targeting larger predatory fish in deep water and demanding coastal conditions.
