The PowerAccess is more compact and lighter than the PowerLock, making it better suited for everyday pocket carry. The PowerLock is a larger and heavier tool, designed for more demanding tasks and, depending on the model, may include a saw, V-cutter, or other special functions. How does the Compound Leverage plier mechanism work? Compound Leverage uses multiple interconnected pivot points. The movement of the handles is transferred to the pliers with increased force, allowing for a stronger grip on parts and easier wire cutting with less hand effort. What bits are compatible with the PowerAccess bit holder? The magnetic holder is designed for standard 1/4" hex bits. This allows you to choose the appropriate Phillips, flat, Torx, or hex bit for the job without needing SOG-specific accessories. Are screwdriver bits included? No. The manufacturer and Jahipaun standard set description does not list any separate bits. Required 1/4" hex bits must be purchased separately. Does the SOG PowerAccess have a saw and scissors? No. This model's 18 functions do not include a saw or scissors. If these tools are important to the user, consider an alternative multitool with a wider selection of tools. Is the multitool suitable for electrical work? The PowerAccess has wire cutters, a wire crimper, and several screwdrivers, but it is not an insulated VDE tool. It must not be used on live electrical wires or installations. When is the SOG PowerAccess Black the right choice? The SOG PowerAccess Black is suitable for users who want a multitool with powerful pliers but do not want to carry a nearly 270-gram full-size PowerLock. Its 167-gram weight, pocket clip, and 104.1 mm closed length make it suitable for everyday carry. The magnetic standard-size 1/4" bit holder is especially practical if you use various Torx, Phillips, or hex bits in your work. If your primary use involves sawing wood, using scissors, or heavy prying, you should choose a larger multitool with those functions. Expert recommendation The most practical features of the SOG PowerAccess Black are its 167-gram weight, Compound Leverage pliers, and standard 1/4" bit holder. The latter allows you to use common hex bits found in many toolkits. The magnet helps hold the bit in place, but during heavier screwing, you should keep the tool aligned with the screw and apply even pressure. The PowerAccess is well-suited for everyday minor repairs, but it does not replace full-size pliers, a pry bar, or a separate screwdriver. The small knife and file should also be considered in the context of the multitool's compact size. After use in wet or dusty environments, clean the tool, dry the pivot points, and, if necessary, add a small amount of suitable maintenance oil. The black coating may wear off at the edges with frequent use; this is a normal sign of use and does not affect the tool's functionality. Compact EDC multitool with powerful pliers The SOG PowerAccess Black combines 18 functions, a Compound Leverage plier mechanism, and a universal 1/4" bit holder in a lightweight, pocket-friendly body. It's a practical choice for everyday carry, camping gear, or keeping in a vehicle when compactness and versatile screwing options are important.
