No. It is not an electronic laser rangefinder. Distance is estimated by comparing the MRAD reticle with an object of known size. The monocular does not require batteries, but accurate results depend on the user’s ability to read the reticle correctly. How is distance calculated with the MRAD reticle? Distance in metres is calculated as follows: actual object size in metres × 1000 ÷ measured size in MRAD. For example, an object 1.8 m tall that covers 6 MRAD in the reticle is approximately 300 m away. Accuracy depends on knowing the object’s true size and reading the reticle precisely. Can the reticle be focused separately? Yes. Adjust the reticle focus first until the markings appear sharp, then focus on the observed object. The reticle setting will not normally need to be changed between uses when the monocular is used by the same person. Is the monocular suitable for eyeglass wearers? Yes.
