Frequently asked questions

Which firearms are compatible with the Venom Enclosed?

This model uses the DeltaPoint Pro mounting footprint. It can be fitted directly to a platform cut for DPP optics or installed with a firearm-specific adapter plate. The footprint, plate and required screw length must all be checked before installation.

Does it fit the same mount as the original open Vortex Venom?

Compatibility should not be assumed. This enclosed model uses the DeltaPoint Pro footprint and may not fit a slide or mount intended for the earlier open Venom. Always follow the specifications supplied by the firearm, slide or adapter-plate manufacturer.

What does a 6 MOA dot mean?

A 6 MOA dot covers approximately 44 mm at 25 metres and 87 mm at 50 metres. The larger dot is quick to recognise at close range but obscures more of the target at longer distances than a 3 MOA dot.

Should I choose the 3 MOA or 6 MOA version?

Choose the 6 MOA version when rapid dot acquisition, close-range use and dynamic shooting are the priorities. The 3 MOA model is generally preferable when you want a smaller aiming point or regularly shoot at longer distances.

Must the sight be re-zeroed after changing the battery?

The battery is accessed from the side, so the optic does not need to be removed for battery replacement. This helps preserve the zero, although the actual point of impact should still be checked after maintenance or a substantial impact.

Is a mounting plate included?

A firearm-specific adapter plate or Picatinny mount is not included in the standard package. Common screw sets are supplied, but the required plate, mount and screw dimensions depend on the host firearm.

Can the sight be used in rain or snow?

Yes. The enclosed housing protects the emitter from rain, snow and debris, and Vortex describes the optic as waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. The external lens surfaces must still be kept clear for an unobstructed sight picture.

When is the Vortex Venom Enclosed 6 MOA the right choice?

The 6 MOA model is well suited to shooters who prioritise an easily recognised aiming dot at close range. It is a practical choice for recreational and sport shooting or drills involving rapid transitions between targets.

The enclosed housing provides an advantage over an open-emitter sight in rain, snow and dust because debris cannot settle directly between the emitter and lens. If the main requirement is greater precision on small targets or at longer distances, the 3 MOA version may be the better option.

Expert recommendation

Before installation, confirm that the firearm is completely unloaded and remove ammunition from the working area. Verify the DPP interface and use only the screw length and tightening torque specified by the firearm or adapter-plate manufacturer. Screws that are too long may interfere with the firearm, while insufficient thread engagement may not retain the optic securely.

The optic has a 10 mm deck height, and an adapter plate will increase the overall mounting height. Standard-height iron sights may therefore be partly or completely hidden behind the housing. If co-witnessing is important, check the complete combination of firearm, plate, optic and iron sights before purchasing.

Because the 6 MOA dot is already highly visible, avoid using more brightness than the conditions require. Excessive brightness can make the dot appear larger or less sharply defined. Confirm the actual point of impact at a shooting range after installation and recheck it after servicing the screws, mounting plate or battery.

Fast acquisition with enclosed-emitter protection

The Vortex Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot 6 MOA combines a large aiming dot, enclosed 6061-aluminium housing, generous viewing window and motion activation. Its DeltaPoint Pro footprint, side-loading CR2032 battery and weather-resistant construction make it a practical optic for fast recreational and sport shooting.
