Frequently asked questions

Is the Firefield FF39016 compatible with both .223 Remington and 5.56×45 NATO?

Yes. The manufacturer specifies compatibility with firearms chambered for either calibre. This refers only to the fit of the boresight and does not mean that .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition is interchangeable in every firearm.

Can this laser boresight produce a final zero?

No. It indicates the approximate direction of the bore and is intended for preliminary sight alignment. The final zero must always be confirmed with suitable ammunition at an authorised shooting range.

Is the laser boresight live ammunition?

No. It is a battery-powered alignment tool without a bullet, propellant or primer. It must be removed from the chamber before the firearm is loaded or fired.

Is the red laser visible in daylight?

Visibility depends on ambient light, background colour and distance. The red dot is easiest to see indoors, in shade or in reduced light, while its practical range may be shorter in bright sunlight.

When is the Firefield FF39016 the right choice?

This model is a practical option for shooters who primarily use a firearm chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56×45 NATO and want a compact tool for preliminary sight alignment. Its calibre-specific body fits directly into the chamber and does not require a mandrel or adaptor to be inserted into the muzzle.

A universal muzzle-mounted boresight may be more economical when several unrelated calibres need to be checked. The FF39016 does not replace final range verification because the actual point of impact is affected by ammunition, distance, barrel characteristics and environmental conditions.

Expert recommendation

An in-chamber laser boresight is particularly useful after installing or replacing a riflescope or red-dot sight. It helps bring the sight’s initial setting closer to the bore axis before visiting the range, reducing the number of large corrections normally required during final zeroing. A stable firearm support and a shaded or dimly lit target area will make the red laser dot easier to observe.

Always confirm that the firearm is unloaded and remove all live ammunition from the work area before inserting the device. Do not force the boresight into the chamber or close the action aggressively against it. Remove it before loading or firing, keep the laser away from eyes and people, and remove the batteries before long-term storage to reduce the risk of discharge or leakage.

Faster preliminary alignment before range verification

The Firefield FF39016 provides a simple way to pre-align the sights of a .223 Remington or 5.56×45 NATO firearm. Its calibre-specific fit, brass construction and compact design make it a useful addition to a shooter’s maintenance and range kit.
