Frequently Asked Questions

Which animal is the Bull Getter Combo intended for?

The set is designed for imitating the calls of elk, specifically the North American elk or wapiti. The English term “elk” in this product context refers to wapiti, not the European moose found in Estonia.

What is the difference between the Bull Getter and Mini Bull Getter?

The Bull Getter has a larger resonance chamber and side sound openings, allowing more control over the sound with your hand. The Mini Bull Getter is smaller and produces higher-pitched calls.

How do you adjust the pitch of the calls?

Both calls feature an adjustable ring on the reed. Moving this ring changes the length of the vibrating part of the reed and therefore the pitch. It’s best to practice and find the right setting before hunting.

Do the game calls work in rain and moisture?

Yes. The manufacturer states that the design works even when wet. However, after use in damp conditions, the calls should be cleaned and fully dried before storage.

Is the set suitable for beginners?

The calls do not require batteries or placing the entire reed against the palate like a diaphragm call, but achieving a natural sound requires practice. Start with a smaller amount of air and gentle blowing.

Can these calls be used for moose or red deer?

The manufacturer has designed the set for elk and does not confirm its suitability for European moose or red deer. For hunting these species, use a call specifically designed to imitate their vocalizations.

When is the Bull Getter Combo the right choice?

This set is ideal for hunters targeting elk and wanting two different basic tones in one package. The larger Bull Getter allows for deeper, more powerful sounds, while the Mini Bull Getter expands your range with higher tones.

For hunting European moose, roe deer, or red deer, choose a call that imitates the vocalizations of the specific target species. If you need an especially loud and far-reaching elk bugle, a bugle-type call with a large resonator may be more suitable.

Expert tip

Before hunting, practice blowing both calls with different intensities and try various positions of the adjustment ring on the reed. Make a few controlled calls from each setting and remember which configuration produces a clean and stable sound. The side openings on the Bull Getter can be partially covered with your fingers to modify the tone and resonance.

In hunting situations, start with a rather moderate volume. Too frequent or uncertain calling may sound unnatural and reveal the hunter’s location. Besides calling, always consider wind direction and choose a spot where you can safely spot approaching animals.

After use, rinse the mouthpiece surfaces with clean lukewarm water. Avoid hot water and aggressive cleaners, which can damage the elastic reed. Allow the calls to dry completely before storing.

Two adjustable elk calls in one set

The Hunter’s Specialties Bull Getter Combo provides the hunter with two elk game calls of different pitches and adjustability. The Bull Getter and Mini Bull Getter allow you to tailor the sound to the situation, work even in damp conditions, and fit conveniently into your hunting gear.
